A winter walk along the northern end of Offa’s Dyke to Prestatyn Hillside.
This venue is a complete contrast to our last at Pennington, being a walk of about 3½ miles total (there and back) along the route of the railway line which ran from Prestatyn to Dyserth until its closure in 1973. The path which is easy walking is through deciduous woodland and below the craggy outcrops of the Northern end of the Clwydian Range of hills. Diversions off the main path may provide harder walking at members’ choice. Walking boots or shoes are recommended. There is no shelter and no facilities. Birds may include raptors, corvids and the usual woodland species. There are, at the time of writing, signs of Spring and many birds are displaying, singing and proclaiming territories.

From Two Mills take the Welsh Road (A550) (A494) to join the A55 expressway towards Conwy. Leave A55 at J31 onto A5151. Stay on A5151 through Trelawnyd. Shortly after entering Dyserth look for the car park on your Right. There is no ‘Car Park’ sign but a large yellow steel height restricting access gantry. There is limited capacity and if we have to we will resort to a “Plan B” for parking.
