Explore some of the quieter trails of this large site, amongst trees and mossland.
This may be the Club’s first visit to Delamere! There is a maze of paths through a mix of deciduous and pine woods, grassland, a newly created marsh area, and a large lake.
The aim is to walk through the woods around Blakemere to the Visitor Centre, where we will have lunch. There are good Toilets and a Café here (but you do not have to buy anything).
After lunch there is an option to take the Old Pale Trail. N.B. This is quite a short but steep climb to the summit, but the views from the top are stunning (weather permitting!). If you don’t want to do this, we can all meet up at the Centre again for the return to the cars.
To the Centre and back is around 4 miles return.
Adding Old Pale will be around 5.5 miles return.
Paths are generally very well maintained but may be a little muddy after heavy rain.
Directions
Meet Barnsbridge car park ready for a prompt 9:30am departure.
Free parking.
The car park is relatively small and popular, hence the earlier start. If the car park is full, you can park in the off-road spaces on the road and walk back to the car park.
This is NOT the main Visitor Centre.
Postcode: WA6 6NY N.B. There isn’t a post code for the car park specifically. This postcode will take you just past the car park and into Hatchmere village.
