40th ANNIVERSARY WALK

Celebrating 40yrs of Wirral Bird Club. Birdwatching on the Dee with light lunch at Sheldrakes restaurant.

We will meet near Sheldrakes restaurant and walk up the shore to Heswall Fields. There is quite a high tide on this date and as it floods, we should get good views of numerous wading birds as they are displaced off their roosts in the marsh gullies along with other marsh and shore dwellers. We will return to Sheldrakes where a light lunch snack of soup, sandwiches and hand-cut chips will be available for £7.95.

After lunch, if weather and wishes allow, a short walk in Heswall Dales may prove more beneficial than snoozing the afternoon away in an armchair!

The path along the shore will probably be muddy and so Wellington boots are recommended. However members must be prepared to change into clean shoes (car park is close by) or stockinged feet for Sheldrakes if their wellies get mucky.

Meeting at 10.00 am in the Banks Road car park.

Directions. From the A540 in Heswall centre traffic lights head down towards Lower Heswall via Mount Road. Look for Delavor Road which will take you downhill towards the estuary. Over the old railway bridge the road turns right and then left becoming Banks Road. The car park is on the left at the bottom of Banks Road.
